
John Paul Martinez is a Filipino poet writing out of the Midwest. His work is forthcoming or has appeared in waxwing, Nashville Review, The Margins, Poetry Northwest, Ninth Letter, The Slowdown podcast, and elsewhere. They were a finalist for the 2019 Indiana Review 1/2 K Prize, 2019 Elinor Benedict Poetry Prize, and 2018 Black Warrior Review Poetry Contest. He holds a degree in Linguistics from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Their debut chapbook, Alternatives for succulents, is forthcoming from Bull City Press.
